We started Promissa after a personal experience with peer-to-peer alternative financing revealed a gap: there were no modern tools to support or manage these transactions. While some startups are exploring rent-to-own and others offer one-off services, no one is building a full platform that supports both buyers and sellers through every step.
Seller financing has been around for decades, but it’s rarely had the infrastructure to make it safe, easy, or scalable. We believe it’s more than just a workaround—it’s a flexible, legitimate path to homeownership, especially in a market where high rates and limited access are the norm.
Promissa is building a fully compliant, start-to-finish platform for buying and selling homes with financing outside the traditional mortgage system. We’re here to make peer-to-peer lending feel less like a handshake deal and more like a real partnership—transparent, secure, and built for better outcomes on both sides.
Promissa is led by April Wise and Joe Fifield. April has over 15 years of experience in mortgage lending and product development. Joe was the first engineer at a successful health tech startup and helped scale it over 20 years. Together, we’re creating a more flexible, inclusive approach to home financing.
